oil heals wounds and so it can help in the relief of daily stresses and the
burden of sins or actions which go against a Christian way of life.
Marcus the Evangelist informed us that Christ´s disciples annointed sick
people with olive oil and so cured them. The basic idea that olive oil is a
means of treating wounds and other bodily ailments, is not far from the
well-known use of it in the ancient world. To those Christianity added
diseases of the soul and mind.

Harvest celebrations: The olive harvest is a celebration in Greece.
Until a few years ago, there was a feast at the end of the gathering.
This was to be seen in many oil producing areas In eastern Crete,
namely Sitia, "apomazochtikia" survived up until the 20th century.
